At the recent Spring Finovate 2015 we had the chance to catch up with JP Nicols, co-founder of the Bank Innovators Council. JP was recently named one of the Top 25 Influencers in Banking by the Financial Brand.  In this brief interview, Beyond the Arc CEO Steven Ramirez asks JP for his take on the top trends coming out of this year’s show.

In the video, JP mentions Moven as one of the companies that captured his attention. One part tech startup, one part bank, this is an organization that is changing retail banking. At Finovate they showcased their new Apple Watch application.

JP Nicols and the Bank Innovators Council

Beyond the Arc has been a big supporter of JP Nicol’s work with the Bank Innovators Council. If you’re not yet familiar with the organization, here’s how they describe themselves:

We are a member-driven organization– by bankers, for bankers– that maintains a safe, trusted and curated environment for members to discuss and explore opportunities and issues, as well as potential solutions and new approaches. Our members come from small community banks, large global banks, and just about everything in between, not to mention like-minded entrepreneurs and technologists.

Beyond the Arc was one of the organization’s earliest supporters. We’ve found their Lab Day programs to be a great forum bringing together bankers, tech innovators, and financial services thought leaders. We’ve blogged about BIC in the past, and we were honored to be a part of the launch back in 2013 on a rooftop in Manhattan.

Fintech is helping banks, wealth management firms, broker-dealers, payment providers, insurance companies, and a host of others to transform their customer experiences. The technology isn’t the focus, the focus is on the business transformation that the technology makes possible.
