Machine learning projects are notoriously difficult to launch. Why is this, and what’s missing from most AI initiatives that causes them to fail?
I discussed these questions and more with The AI Playbook author Eric Siegel. Take a look at a clip from our recent chat. In this conversation we talk about the roles that are critical in AI deployment.
The AI Playbook: who do you need on your team to successfully deploy AI?

My hot take about The AI Playbook
During our discussion, Eric expands on the bizML method – a six-step strategy for deploying machine learning projects. Not too surprisingly, bizML closely aligns with my thinking about an AI Roadmap.
I say not surprisingly, because Eric and I are colleagues and friends. We have had an opportunity to collaborate on the Machine Learning Week and Predictive Analytics World conferences over the years. In similar fashion, we have heard from data science leaders on the frontlines.
Importantly, there is a body of industry good practice that has emerged. And, the success factors are increasingly clear when it comes to implementing machine learning in a corporate setting. These learnings also heavily influenced Beyond the Arc’s AI Deployment Process. Eric has done a great job of capturing these insights and making them actionable.
About The AI Playbook: Mastering the Rare Art of Machine Learning Deployment
The AI Playbook introduces the “bizML” approach—a gold-standard, six-step methodology—to guide machine learning projects from conception to deployment. Fortunately, it gives you the chance to learn from the successes and failures of others in deploying machine learning and AI.
The book has revealing case studies from companies like UPS, FICO, and more. We’ve worked with Eric for years and we are happy to support his new book. You can order The AI Playbook now at http://bizML.com.
